Power Steering Belts are belts that commonly connect the power steering system to the rotation of the engine, and provide the movement needed for the Power Steering Pump to work as it should. The are most commonly seen in two different applications.
The first in on older Hondas where there are more than one drive belt. This Power Steering Belt typically connects the Power Steering Pump directly to the crankshaft. Should this belt wear out and break, the engine should continue running normal, and the power steering system will fail to work altogether.
Most new Hondas actually use only one belt known as a Serpentine Belt, which Honda still calls a Power Steering Belt. All of the engine accessorizes such as the Alternator, Power Steering Pump, and A/C Compressor are powered using these belt. Should, this belt wear out and break, your car's A/C and power Steering will fail, and the alternator will stop working causing the battery and your car to die.
In both applications, it's important to make sure the belts are checked regularly, and replaced if needed.
